The Idea of Progress (Adeline TES2)

The notion of progress is forward movement, it's the progressive development of humankind ! There are different types of progress : technical , scientific and social progress. Everybody is concerned by progress in the present and will be concerned in the future. Is it dangerous ? Goos question … For exemple, technical progress : William Kamkwamba built a windmill in 2002 in his country of origin, Malawi. This is a innovation because he created a generating electricity, a light and recharge phone ! He also built a pump water. It's good progress because it bring the progress in poor countries ! The second exemple is social progress : The document in page 164 is an extract of autobiographical novel. A young criminal in a correctional institute likes running because he feels free, he thinks very well, he dreams. It's a treat for him. It's good progress because this process allows criminals to be reintegrated into society. Finally, exemple of scientific progress, the document in page 63 “ sciences babies “ is an extract of novel. It's a factory babies , all the same babies ! What's the problem with this technology ? Everybody would be the same, there wouldn't be any originality or novety, we wouldn't have any choices to make ! But womens who can't have babies naturally, could have them with this progress . I think , technical and social progress are good , it's forward movement ! But the scientific progress is dangerous !
